Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho talked about how demanding superstar Jude Bellingham actually is, both of himself as well as of his teammates, in the press conference after the team beat Malaga 4-0 in La Liga on Sunday night.
Real Madrid looked brilliant once again, and everything good about them came through Jude Bellingham.
The Englishman was on fantastic form as he once again scored a brilliant goal to give Real Madrid the lead. He also had a shot that was eventually given as an own goal for a Malaga player.
Even if you remove the goals, Bellingham was brilliant defensively. He was one of the best pressers of the entire team. He looked calm and collected, and he was literally giving instructions to his teammates at so many points during the game.
Jose Mourinho knows Jude Bellingham's importance to Real Madrid
Mourinho was asked about how good Jude actually is and how he acts like a leader of this group, to which he only said good things.
He said: "He’s very demanding of himself and others, and I really like that. We’ve organized the team differently; he knows what he has to do, and he feels comfortable. I’m very happy with everyone.
"I said that at Real Madrid there’s more than one player who can win the Ballon d’Or, but there’s Jude. Of course, there’s one (Mbappé) who made history at the World Cup. But Jude, in midfield, is incredible.”
Mourinho is spot on. Ever since Jude Bellingham joined Real Madrid in 2023, he has always shown that he's someone who loves to bring out the best in his teammates.
He has high expectations as well as high demands from all of his teammates, but even more so from himself. He is the kind of player who wins you games on sheer mentality, and these are the kind of players who go on to become the best in the world.
With Bellingham, he already is one of the best players in the world, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how important he is to the team at the moment. But, if he continues this way, he can also take it to the next level.
It will be very good to see more of this leadership from Bellingham, even more than what we've seen now, because Real Madrid, at the moment, lack a profile like this, who would vocally help the team on the pitch as well as demand so much more from them.
It is a brilliant sign of a leader in the making, and Real Madrid, who have been missing this kind for a very long time, must be very, very happy about it.
