Real Madrid centre back Eder Militao is expected to return in November, according to a report from AS. Militao has had multiple injury issues in the last two to three years, which have prevented him from playing regular football for the club. He has had two ACL injuries in successive seasons from 2023 to 2025, which was a really bad blow for the player to take.
Even after he came back from the ACL injury last season, Militao missed around three months from the end of 2025 till the end of March 2026 with a torn muscle fibre injury. Just less than a month after that, he had a hamstring injury and has been out ever since.
It will be more than six months in November for the player to be recovering from the injury, after which he will finally be back in contention for Jose Mourinho.
It is weird that Mourinho has been at the club for more than three months, but Militao has not had the chance to play under him. Hopefully that happens as soon as possible, because the way it looks right now, Real Madrid will already need him to be back fully fit as soon as possible.
Eder Militao would be a huge boost for Real Madrid
At the moment, Real Madrid have just two centre-backs available. For the game against Villarreal on Saturday, Dean Hujsen is suspended. Raúl Asencio has just gone through surgery, and one of the two central defenders who is actually fit, Ibrahima Konate, is also just coming back from injury. He may or may not actually be completely fit to play the game, which is why we will have to wait and see what happens with him.
The point of the matter is, Militao has been missing from Real Madrid's defence for a very long time. Although his injury record isn't the most positive we have ever seen, he would still help Real Madrid a lot when he comes back.
Whenever he does play, Militao is one of the best centre-backs the team has to offer. Even if he's available for a limited time, the hope this season is that, with so many good, talented central defenders already available for Mourinho, he would be able to manage Militao's load much better. That will only happen, though, if the other centre-backs are able to remain fit, which, as of now, is not happening.
Hopefully, that changes in the future, and Militao actually becomes a regular player for Real Madrid, even if he is not a starter. Regardless of how much he plays, the main thing fans would want is for the Brazilian to finally get some much-needed continuity at the club.
