Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has made it pretty clear through the big Spanish newspapers that he has no intentions of keeping Alvaro Arbeloa around despite his popularity with the most important figures in the dressing room like Vinicius Junior, Fede Valverde, and even David Alaba. And now, at the press conferences, Arbeloa is acting more and more like a guy who knows he is on the outs, not even bothering with trying to protect troublemakers like Kylian Mbappe and court jester Dani Ceballos.

Perez has dreams of bringing Jose Mourinho back to the Real Madrid dressing room, and he appears to be the No. 1 target at this point, especially with the other big name, Jurgen Klopp, evidently not interested in leaving his cush office job with the Red Bull enterprise.

Mourinho hasn't been performing at the elite level as a manager in a while, but he had some great times at Roma before being unfairly pushed out by one of football's most incompetent ownership groups. But while Mou has his rough edges and a real point to prove, those two things may actually be big positives for Real Madrid in the state they are in.

Jose Mourinho wants control

According to reporting by Le Journal du Real, via the Madrid Zone, Jose Mourinho has made it known to Real Madrid that in order to accept the job, he would need full power from Florentino Perez to do whatever he wants in charge. Mou wants to be able to tell any player on the team that they can start or any player on the team that they can be benched, and he does not want Florentino or anyone in the management to tell him what he can or cannot do. He does not want anyone to be regarded as untouchable.

And after all the drama with Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa over all these players throwing fits about starting or not starting, this is exactly what every single Real Madrid fan wants. Only the cultists of Kylian Mbappe may disagree with this stance from Mourinho that an elite manager with big medals should be making the calls over who plays and that the entitled players need to stay quiet and perform if they are not performing.

Florentino may or may not go for this, since the main target would be his golden boy Kylian Mbappe getting benched for not even trying to play defense, but just as PSG benefited when they finally handed the keys to Luis Enrique, Real Madrid will benefit from finally letting a top manager do his job. Real Madrid fans will hope that Presi listens to Mourinho or any other top coach. And remember, it is not just about Mbappe here. The unholy quartet of Dani Ceballos, Raul Asencio, Dani Carvajal, and Alvaro Carreras, and even the beloved golden trio of Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, and Vinicius Junior have tried to cause problems with managers this season. It needs to end.
