Real Madrid fans are excited to see Jose Mourinho officially crowned as the new manager, finishing his unfinished business from his first stint at the club in the early 2010s when he built the club into a juggernaut that would win six Champions League titles in the next two decades - but never won the Decima himself.

The hope from Florentino Perez and the club is that Mourinho will get the big superstars and egos to actually fight for the club and perform. Mourinho is one of the most respected and successful managers in the history of the sport, and Los Merengues are hopeful he can right the ship after consecutive trophyless seasons for the second time in his career in the Spanish capital.

But there has been another side benefit of hiring Mourinho. The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager's super agent Jorge Mendes has been closely working with Florentino Perez on this deal, and this has led to a repairing of the relationship between Real Madrid and the Portuguese agent, who is the biggest in the sport and has also represented Los Blancos legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jose Mourinho's Jorge Mendes relationship could be a factor

The big benefit with working well with Mendes is access to elite clients, particularly those of Portuguese nationality like Cristiano and Mourinho. But the draw back is that, like Wolves, Real Madrid may be linked more to Portuguese players as favors to Mendes to their detriment.

The Athletic's Mario Cortegana recently said, via Madrid Xtra, that he has already been told to keep an eye out for Real Madrid making moves for Portuguese players, “I have been told to keep an eye on Jorge Mendes and Portugal players.”

Jose Mourinho has not yet been confirmed as Real Madrid manager, but that appears to be a mere formality at this point. And the repairing of the relationship with Jorge Mendes is already planting the seeds of transfers for his clients.

There are some Real Madrid fans are dreaming of seeing at the Santiago Bernabeu. Joao Neves and Vitinha are the two best midfielders in the world right now at PSG, back to back Champions League finalists, and are easily dream options for an underperforming Madrid midfield, though it is hard seeing either of them wanting to work with Kylian Mbappe again.

The other Portuguese players are probably not going to be of interest, though. Ruben Neves and Bernardo Silva don't make much sense for the club, and the rest of the other players like Mateus Fernandes are decent young footballer but, again, don't really fit the club. And what Madridistas don't want to see is the Mourinho hiring leading to Mendes pushing players on him and Real Madrid that don't make the club better, which is a concern to keep in mind.
