Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho talked about how his players in world football always want to play with each other after Real Madrid won 4-0 against Malaga on Sunday night.
It was a game in which all of their superstars looked really good. Vinicius Junior provided an assist, and generally looked good without it, too. He created a few chances for his teammates. Jude Bellingham was the star of the night with a goal of his own, while also forcing an own goal.
Kylian Mbappé also scored a really nice goal to help Real Madrid take the first position in the La Liga standings, at least for now. Real Madrid fans have been talking about the Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Mbappé trio for a very long time and whether they should keep playing together or whether the club should sell one of these players.
Mourinho was asked about the trio, and he gave a very simple reply to it, saying: “Very, very good players want to play together. With people of their quality, with their speed of thought and decision-making. They always have to be compatible.
"There was a lot of talk that Mou didn’t want one player, then another, then another… I always want the best. If there’s empathy, teamwork… I don’t see any problem; I see that they’re good.”
It is true, Real Madrid players do not have to spend time off the pitch and go to dinners together to be able to perform well on the pitch.
Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham want to win
Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema used to play on the same team for so long, and it worked so well - but not because they went to dinners together and had good friendships. Rather, they would work on the chemistry they had on the pitch, which is what matters.
Obviously, it is good to have a good relationship with your fellow superstars, which is what Real Madrid players have. They respect each other, and they know the main reason why they are working together, which is to win titles.
Their objective is always going to be the same, and that is what is going to be uniting these players to play together. They don't have to get along like best friends off the pitch.
What they do need to do is consistently play well together and link up together as well as they can, and not let any of these problems translate into the pitch.
Obviously, Vinicius Junior and Mbappé haven't really clicked off the way everyone thought they would, but that is also not because of their problems in their personal relationship - it is just a stylistic difference.
We also have to remember that Vinicius Junior was one of the few players who really, really wanted Real Madrid to sign Mbappé.
The best players always want to play together, which is exactly what is happening at Real Madrid. There was a baseless rumor that some of these superstars don't really get along well - which has not been confirmed by anyone.
Either way, they don't need to have a brilliant relationship off the pitch. What they need to do is have brilliant chemistry on the pitch, which is the most important thing in football.
