Jose Mourinho hasn't yet stepped foot at Real Madrid officially to take over as the new manager, but with the "Here We Go" from top transfer insider Fabrizio Romano and a ton of news from the Spanish press saying that a deal is all but done, it would be a shock if Mou didn't return to the Santiago Bernabeu to try and rescue Real Madrid from back to back trophyless seasons for the second time in his legendary career.
Real Madrid are already reportedly being told by Mourinho that they need to make multiple defensive signings this summer to upgrade the squad, though this is also a very easy conclusion Real likely drew themselves (though that can't be taken for granted, given they ignored Carlo Ancelotti on this very topic years ago).
There are a few incredible options for Real Madrid to watch. Luka Vuskovic is one after a breakout season for Hamburg, NIco Schlotterbeck has an affordable release clause after another stellar Bundesliga season himself, and now Josko Gvardiol has reportedly been offered to Real Madrid, too, from Manchester City amidst uncertainty around Mourinho's old foe Pep Guardiola's future.

Now, according to a report from Miguel Serrano, via the Madrid Zone, Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid to bring in Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan this summer transfer window, if it's at all possible to sign away one of the Serie A champion's most prized gems. Reportedly, Bastoni is Mourinho's No. 1 favorite center back signing on the mercato.
Bastoni, of course, has been more heavily linked to Real Madrid's eternal rivals Barcelona than anyone else, though a deal is difficult for them - or anyone else - to complete due to Bastoni's importance at Inter. And even after an ugly flop in the Derby d'Italia, is really only the Italian fans outside Inter who disfavor him. Inter supporters absolutely love the guy.
Over the past few years, Bastoni has only enhanced his reputation as the best left footed center half in world football. His ball progression and passing ability are better than most midfielders in European football, and he is a strong reader of the game with decent enough tackling in one on ones.
Real Madrid want to sign multiple center backs, so bring a finesse player like Alessandro Bastoni with more of a gambler like Josko Gvardiol or Nico Schlotterbeck to join Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen would settle Mourinho's biggest incoming need and turn the center back position from a massive weakness to a massive strength for the Merengues. And robbing Bastoni from Barcelona would make a deal even sweeter.
