The Kylian Mbappe problem isn't going to quietly go away for Real Madrid, and with outlets like El Chiringuito further fanning the flames in the locker room by starting rumors about Mbappe's camp pinning the problem on Vinicius Junior, things could get ugly if incoming manager Jose Mourinho can't step in and squash the smoldering before it becomes a full on inferno.

Real Madrid fans whistled Mbappe against Real Oviedo, with the Frenchman responding with a post game tirade for the ages that Madridistas are not accustomed to seeing, nor tolerating. So Mourinho will come in with what is likely an already tarnished image of the player he once praised for his gifts on the pitch, though, now, Madridistas are calling those same gifts into question after another poor showing on the attacking end.

Luis Enrique did not tolerate Mbappe and has reached two Champions League finals in a row without the Frenchman, famously predicting that he would do better without him - a controversial statement at the time that has now been proven equivocally true. The frustration from the former treble winner at Barcelona came from Mbappe's unwillingness to run or follow tactical directions from the coach, even with personal meetings and benchings.

Jose Mourinho is not playing around

According to a report from Diario AS, via the Madrid Zone, Jose Mourinho has already told Real Madrid upper management and president Florentino Perez himself that everyone on the team is going to have to run and give full effort when he is in charge. Mourinho won't care about how big of a name or a star a player is; they are going to have to fight for him.

Real Madrid are giving Mourinho more power, if reports out of Spain are to be believed, than any other recent manager in order to convince the Portuguese legend, who is held in great esteem by Florentino, to fix this team once again.

Although the report does not mention Mbappe's name explicitly, it doesn't take a genius to figure out who Mourinho is primarily talking about. CIES data shows that Kylian Mbappe is one of the laziest footballers in the pitch in the entire world, including veteran superstars in places like Saudi Arabia and MLS, whlie Vinicius Junior is one of the leading forwards in presses. And nobody would question the effort of players like Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham despite their own media controversies.

Mourinho is notorious for wanting all of his players to be all in. He had a lot of respect for Alvaro Arbeloa when the latter was a player for him in Madrid, so if Arbeloa was already shooting barbs at Mbappe for not giving enough effort, it's obvious Mourinho is going to be even more stringent.
