For Real Madrid off the back of back-to-back trophyless seasons the squad was in desperate need of major reinforcements to get back to winning ways and so far they have been delivering those reinforcements. The club has already announced four new signings, three of which are defensive signings, as Jose Mourinho looks to start his rebuild with a completely new backline. However those three defensive signings aren't enough for the new manager as he reportedly eyes one more in what he believes is the weakest area in the backline.
As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Jose Mourinho still wants another center-back signing this summer, and is pushing hard for the club to get it done before the new season officially kicks off. Any new defensive signing will rely on more departures, departures that Real Madrid are actively working on to fulfill Mourinho's wish.

As mentioned earlier the backline has been leaking in goals for fun over the last two years and was in desperate need of changing and the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries is quite the start but Mourinho isn't done there. The Special One still wants one more central defender in addition to Konte as he believes it will be the final piece to his defensive rebuild.
For Real Madrid center-back has been a bit of an interesting position over the last few years. The club has won Champions Leagues with both a Alaba-Militao and Nacho-Rudiger partnerships but have struggled to find much consistency outside of that. Constant injuries and overall drops in form has caused the center of the defense to be the weak link in the backline despite the amount of talent at that position.
Dean Huijsen had a bit of a weak first season at the Bernabeu, Eder Militao is constantly fighting to stay fit for long stretches, Raul Asencio is the most likely candidate for sale to facilitate any future signing, Rudiger is 33-years-old and is the veteran in the backline and Konate has just arrived with the expectation of being a starter. When looking at the situation as a whole it is clearly not ideal so from Mourinho's perspective it is understandable why he is pushing so strongly for another signing.
Jose is said to be a huge fan of Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni and has him circled as his number one target. The club already missed out on the signings of Nico Schlotterbeck and Dayot Upamecano so it will be crucial that they can get a deal done for Bastoni in a quick manner to give Mourinho his final piece to the puzzle.
