Yet the star players turned on Alonso, disliking his desire to control the club and his decisions, and Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid board did not believe in his talent identification skills or ideals as well.
The treatment of Alonso created a huge rift in the fan base, and while Alonso did a poor job of controlling the narrative or making it clear in the media that there was no us vs. them in the locker room between the star players around him, it is true that Alonso was not given a fair shake and that there was entitlement breeding in the locker room.
Jose Mourinho is tightening up Real Madrid

Training is more intense. The expectations are higher. Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, and all the other Real Madrid greats were not like that either in the 2010s when Real Madrid were winning it all every year. Mourinho is bringing the standard back that Alonso tried to, and at least the players have to listen to Mou now.
