Jose Mourinho is a lot of things, but a man who does things at random he is not. The returning Real Madrid manager is already making big moves for the club behind the scenes with all the power vested in him by Florentino Perez, who has such admiration for Mou's presence and accomplishments over the decades that he is willing to give him what he would never give anyone else as manager of Madrid.
Real Madrid have signed Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva for him solely at his request, having not shown any interest in these two players previously. They also signed free agent center back Ibrahima Konate to give Mourinho at least one new world class central defender, and they are prepared to bring in another, whether that is Riccardo Calafiori, Nico Schlotterbeck, or No. 1 target Josko Gvardiol.
It isn't just the defense, though. After the Bernardo Silva signing, Jose Mourinho still wants a top center midfielder to join the club, and Real Madrid are being linked to everyone from Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea to West Ham United's Mateus Fernandes, who appears to be the second dream midfield pick for Mou after his other compatriot Silva.
Jose Mourinho has a clear plan in midfield
All of the Real Madrid links to midfield talents with Jose Mourinho's name attached to the reports poitns to one clear conclusion: the new Madrid manager does not at all value the midfielders who are on the bubble.
Obviously, Los Blancos have no use for Dani Ceballos, but it also seems as though Mourinho is not particularly high on Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. Though the latter appears to be safe for now, the former has not been backed at all by Mourinho, and it may only be a matter of time before Florentino Perez even agrees to let him go, given he has already changed his mind about things like Bernardo Silva's candidacy due to Mourinho's wishes.
If Mourinho wants to make more signings, players are going to have to leave Real Madrid - and they will have to be notable names like Tchouameni and Camavinga to accomodate players who are going to play heavy minutes in rotation with the likes of Fede Valverde, Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham, and now Mr. Silva.
It stands to reason that if Mourinho saw Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga as actual stars and starters at Real Madrid, he would not be so interested in profiles like Mateus Fernandes. That is Mou's subtle way of telling Madrid that he wants to clean house of the players who he thinks are not fit for this team - or, at the very least, light a fire under them to actually perform.
