Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, prior to winning the elections over Enrique Riquelme, promised Madridistas that he would bid 150 milion euros to sign a Galactico on the level of Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Kaka.
Although he denied that the player is Bayern Munich Ballon d'Or contender Michael Olise, journalists have zeroed in on the French right winger as the main target of Perez's with Atletico Madrid superstar striker Julian Alvarez being a strong Plan B.
But before Olise's name surfaced, many thought that Perez was talking about a superstar from back to back Champions League winners PSG, specifically Portuguese midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves, who happen to both be Jorge Mendes clients - the same agent who brought Jose Mourinho back to Real Madrid this summer.
Real Madrid could still be going for a PSG star
Although most reports make it sounds as though a PSG player, especially Neves or Vitinha, moving from the Ligue 1 giants to Real Madrid is impossible, there is one very reputable journalist who is saying the opposite.
COPE's Arancha Rodriguez is saying, via Madrid Xtra, that she is told the Galactico that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is referring to is a Portuguese player. Now, that could be Vitinha or Joao Neves, sure, but it could also be a different Portuguese superstar worth 150 million euros.
The thing is, who else could fit the bill and be worth that kind of money on the Portuguese national team? Cristiano Ronaldo is not worth anywhere near that kind of money, and Perez already said no to him years ago when it would have made more sense after Juventus or Manchester United.
Bruno Fernandes was the Premier League Player of the Season, but he doesn't fill a position of need for Madrid, nor is he worth 150 million. Rafael Leao is publicly available for transfer from AC Milan, but Real Madrid have three better left wingers - and nobody is going to give 150 million euros to Milan for a player who clearly wants out after a disappointing 2025/26 season.
Manchester City's Ruben Dias is a great center back, but he's not worth 150 million, nor are Real Madrid as interested in him as other center backs (such as his teammate Josko Gvardiol). Mateus Fernandes and Bernardo Silva are Portuguese midfield targets Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Real Madrid to sign, but they are not worth that kind of money. So signs from Arancha point to Neves and Vitinha not being dead as targets just yet.
