Every time Real Madrid superstar center midfielder Jude Bellingham steps out on the pitch, records fall. The England international once again played hero for his country, rescuing them from another strong upset bid in the World Cup knockouts, this time scoring two goals to help the Three Lions come from behind and beat his close friend and former Borussia Dortmund teammate, striker Erling Haaland (who, by the way, seems to be angling for a future Madrid move).

Bellingham's first goal was a delicious dribble and finish with his weaker left foot, leaving Orjan Nyland beaten all ends up. And on the second, his movement in the box and hunger to get their first from Nyland's unwise spill of a Morgan Rogers power shot from long, long range was, once again, something for his counterpart Harry Kane to be proud of as a 9.

With Bellingham's brace against Norway, he is now on back to back braces for England in the knockouts, as he scored twice in the first half in less than 100 seconds to play a beyond crucial role in the Three Lions surviving a surge from Mexico at the Azteca.

Jude Bellingham is on another level

The last person to score a brace at the Azteca was none other than Argentina national legend Diego Armando Maradona, arguably the greatest player of all time. And crazily enough, by scoring another brace after that match, Bellingham broke Maradona's other record of scoring back to back braces in the World Cup knockouts.

So by scoring two goals in two straight games in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 and quarterfinals, Jude Bellingham has broken a record of Diego Maradona's that stood for 40 years. Because also in that historic 1986 World Cup in Mexico, Maradona scored twice against - of all teams - England in the quarterfinals before landing another two against Belgium in the semis.

England fans can only pray that Jude sets another world record all to his own by making it three in a row to beat Maradona's very own Argentina and his successor to the GOAT title, Lionel Messi, who is sitting on the most goals in World Cup history right now.

Bellingham has the mentality that he can go toe to toe with anyone, and he will not be scared of Messi and the goons around him in the Argentina midfield one bit. In fact, by matching Maradona's back to back brace record, he has even more confident to shred his next opponent.
