If I were to choose one of Real Madrid's most unselfish but vital and contributing players in recent years, there's little question that Karim Benzema's name would not come to mind. He was the star of the remarkable and unbelievable comebacks in the 2022 Champions League winning season.
The legendary French player has seen the highs and lows of his career with Los Blancos. In the end, he departed Real Madrid with a romantic farewell. He departed as one of the most prominent players, a decorated veteran, and a Ballon d'Or recipient. He did everything.
Even so, his departure was unexpected. He was at the peak of his game, smashing teams at home and away. The supporters found it difficult to understand why he would leave Real Madrid after taking on the position he had earned recently.
Karim Benzema had achieved everything with Real Madrid
In a recent interview with Chiringuito Inside, the French striker discussed his time with the Merengues. He also explained why he decided to give up his white badge and relocate to Saudi Arabia.
He said, "I did everything with Real Madrid. I joined as a boy and left as a man with many titles and the Ballon d’Or. All my dreams came true.”
That is true. Benzema joined as a rising star from Lyon and left as probably the club's best scorer. All of the little boy's fantasies came true. He departed with five Champions League titles, five Club World Cups, and the Ballon d'Or. There was little left for him to accomplish. And it would be fair to conclude that his departure opened the door for the explosive Kylian Mbappe and Endrick in the background.
The player had earlier stated that he would be willing to return to Los Blancos once he retired. The exact job is yet to be determined.
