The 2026 World Cup is giving Real Madrid fans the opportunity to watch their players, both incoming transfers and established stars, in an entirely different environment ahead of a crucial first season under Jose Mourinho. And it is also giving them a glimpse at players around European football who could soon become additional blockbuster transfers for Mou, such as midfielder Enzo Fernandez of Argentina or Morocco's 18 year old breakout star Ayyoub Bouaddi.
But there is no bigger storyline than watching a current Real Madrid star and a future Real Madrid star playing together on the same team. That is exactly what Madridistas are being treated to with the French national team, as the club's biggest name currently, Kylian Mbappe, is starting alongside the club's biggest transfer target, Michael Olise, at the forward positions.
Olise has become an obsession for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who fell in love with the Bayern Munich star after he tore them up in the Champions League knockout stages. Perez boldly claimed that he will be bidding 150 million euros and pursuing a new Galactico, and he is so serious about Olise that figures as high as the 222 million euros that PSG paid for Neymar in 2017 are being thrown around for the former Crystal Palace man.
Michael Olise is only making more and more sense
It seems impossible for Real Madrid to sign Olise, given his importance to Bayern Munich and how strongly against a transfer the European Clasico rivals are. However, if there is one thing left that Perez and Madrid can pin their hopes on, then it is Olise's own will.
Kylian Mbappe is loving playing with Michael Olise on France, and Olise, though he is a much more reserved individual who does not show it like KM10, is loving it just as much. Olise constantly looks for Mbappe to serve him with passes, and the way Olise plays the game on the right hand side is very good for Mbappe, since it generates space and opportunities for him.
You have to think that Mbappe is working extra hard behind the scenes to convince Real Madrid to pay whatever it takes to pry Olise from Bayern Munich, as well as trying to convince Olise to do what he can to join him at Real Madrid and form the world's best triumvirate with Vinicius Junior on the left - something of a modern day BBC or MSN in La Liga.
Mbappe has said at press conference at the World Cup how much he loves playing with Olise and how easy the game is when he gets to play alongside him. There is nothing like two "cracks" benefiting from each other, and Real Madrid have a unique opportunity here that they cannot ignore whenever they watch Olise and Mbappe tear defenses apart as a tandem.
