Barcelona fans have called out Kylian Mbappe after the Supercopa de Espana final which ended in defeat for Real Madrid. The Catalans ran out 3-2 winners in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after Raphinha's deflected effort in the second half proved to be the winner.
Mbappe returned for the final after missing a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals due to a knee sprain. But he had to wait until the 76th minute to be introduced as Xabi Alonso opted not to risk him too early.
The forward failed to properly impose himself on the game, although a piece of skill near the end led to Frenkie de Jong going studs up on the Frenchman. The Dutch midfielder was sent off but Madrid couldn't find an equaliser with a one-man advantage.
Barcelona fans slam Mbappe after Madrid's Supercopa defeat
It is often tradition for a club to give another a guard of honor after a cup final but Madrid didn't do that tonight. It's being reported that Mbappe prevented his teammates from doing so for the Barca players as they walked to the stage.
BarcaTimes called out the Frenchman on X:
"Real Madrid refused to give Barcelona the traditional guard of honour as they walked to the stage, despite Barca doing so for Madrid. It was Kylian Mbappe who stopped his teammates from carrying it out. Absolutely classless."

Mbappe is extremely competitive and can often let his emotions get the better of him. He was inconsolable after France's FIFA World Cup loss to Argentina in the winter of 2022 and many questioned his attitude.

But Madrid's top scorer shouldn't be pulling such antics despite the rivalry between the two sides. Even the most heated battle between the El Clasico giants has ended in a guard of honor in the past.
While tonight was a tense affair it didn't boil over to a point where Mbappe and Madrid refuse to give a guard of honor. It will be interesting to see whether we hear why this occured.
Alonso explains using Mbappe late on
All eyes were on Mbappe ahead of the final and whether he was fit enough to start. Alonso had suggested he was even considered for the Atleti win but Madrid chose not to risk him.
But the Spaniard waited until the final 15 minutes to bring Mbappe on and this was put to him after the game. He told reporters (via Madrid Xtra):
"Kylian wasn't ready to start. We wanted him to have a good impact off the bench."
Mbappe not only missed the Atleti win but also a 5-1 victory against Real Betis in La Liga. His manager further explained his late introduction:
"Why Mbappe? We wanted to create danger, we wanted new energies."
Mbappe and his Madrid side suffered their second consecutive Supercopa final loss against Barca. The first half performance from Los Blancos was unconvincing but the scores were level at 2-2 at half-time.
Vinicius Junior was Madrid's main attacking threat and scored the goal of the night. But the Brazilian had to come off late on due to injury and Alonso's men couldn't quite force a third equaliser.
