It's safe to say that this season has been a disaster on a number of fronts for Real Madrid. A combination of injuries, poor management, and an overall drop in form from a number of players has culminated in a season that will surely end trophyless. People have been pointing fingers at a number of figures at the club, with many saying Kylian Mbappe is at fault for the current issues at the club, however this stat will surely silence his critics.

As pointed out by Madrid Universal on X, 43% of Real Madrid's losses this season have come when Kylian Mbappe isn't playing. The Frenchman was absent for the losses against Manchester City, Albacete, and now Getafe, and with Mbappe expected to miss an extended period of time with a knee injury, more losses are surely on the horizon.

Real Madrid 0-1 Getafe: Kylian Mbappe critics are silent now

While the flip side of this coin is many people would say that means the other 57% of the losses come with the Frenchman on the pitch, he is not the biggest issue on the pitch and that has been evident all season. Mbappe has saved Los Blancos more times than not this season and has scored a number of gaming winning goals, saving crucial points, so to put all the blame on him is a bit overdramatic.

Let's look at two other losses from this season the 5-2 loss to Atletico and the 4-2 loss to Benfica, Mbappe scored in both those games and was the only player on the pitch actually trying to win the game, which is a common sight this season.

While the Frenchman has been a non factor is some of the other losses, pointing the finger specifically at him being the biggest problem, when other players are a bigger problem is unfair to the attacker. Players like Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham have failed to step up and make an impact when Real lose but no one is putting all the blame on them like they are with Mbappe. The recent losses to Osasuna and Getafe surely have to shine a light and open people's eyes to the fact that there are bigger issues at the club and Mbappe isn't one of them.

The upcoming matches will be crucial for not just the players but Alvaro Arbeloa as well. Matches against Celta Vigo and Manchester City, teams which Real have already lost to will show what these players are made of. Normally when you matchup against a team that's already beaten you you bring extra fight the second time around, but with this group of players, we've seen before that is not always the case.
