It's safe to say this season hasn't been the easiest for Real Madrid. Issues both on and off the pitch has led to this season being an unmitigated disaster with the last two weeks in particular being quite the show. From last weeks fight between Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, to Florentino Perez's self centered press conference this week and it seems there isn't one normal day at Los Blancos. And now the drama just keeps on going after Kylian Mbappe's post game comments while speaking to journalists.

While speaking to the media after Real's 2-0 win over Real Oviedo, Kylian Mbappe discussed the difficulty the team has faced this season after a strong start, and he discretely took a shot at one of his teammates, and we all know who Mbappe was talking about. The Frenchman went on to say:

"We started the season well. Then we lost everything in the 2nd half of the season.

It hurts a lot, I feel like we had a playing style, a structure, and we lost all of it."

Kylian Mbappe takes a clear shot at his teammate without naming names

It doesn't take a genius to decipher that Mbappe is talking about Vinicius Jr and his actions earlier in the season that led to the downfall of Xabi Alonso and the team as a whole. We're all familiar with Vini's temper tantrum towards Xabi Alonso following his substitution in El Clasico back in October, which is what Mbappe is alluding to, throwing Vinicius under the bus without directly mentioning his name, something that has been a long time coming.

Mbappe is right, Real did start the season well, Xabi Alonso won 13 of hist first 14 games in charge, had Los Blancos seven points clear at the top of La Liga and sitting in second in the Champions League table, playing with a clear structure and an winning game plan in mind. And then Vini's temper tantrum happened and the wheels fell off. After that Alonso lost a section of the dressing room ultimately leading to his sacking in January.

Alvaro Arbeloa was then brought in and as Mbappe said, Real Madrid lost everything in the second half of the season. In Arbeloa's first game Los Blancos were eliminated from the Cope del Rey by second division side Albacete, fell apart in La Liga and got eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals. There's no disipline or identifiable playing style or structure under Arbeloa it's just 'go out there and play' and with the egos of the players in this squad, that's never going to work.

In sports sometimes it's warranted to call out a teammate for their actions and in this case Mbappe has every right to voice his frustrations. Vini's action can clearly be pointed to as the catalyst for the collapse of Real Madrid this season, and it's about time someone makes him shoulder the blame for his actions for once in his career.
