Real Madrid are completley unraveling as the 2025/26 La Liga season, which will almost certainly end without a trophy for the not so Royal Whites, and it's not like they were without dysfunction earlier this campaign either.

The alteraction between Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni has rocked Real Madrid, and the fallout of the events of Thursday afternoon may not be close to being done. There seem to be voices pushing for major changes that go beyond the hefty fines for the two midfielders, with Valverde, widely seen as one of the architects of Xabi Alonso's demise, potentially suffering the biggest consequences - and that could very well include him being removed as captain.

According to COPE journalist Ruben Martin, via Defensa Central, there may be another factor at play. Kylian Mbappe. Per Martin, a source close to Mbappe states that the French superstar has been telling those in his inner circle that he saw this negative fallout for Valverde coming one day. Mbappe reportedly said that other players in the Real Madrid squad do not view Valverde as an actual leader and that many in the locker room would even be happy to see him go this summer if transferred.

Dictator Mbappe may be striking again

That is a wild report, and although it is important to make it clear that nobody knows if Mbappe said this or not, the information comes from someone close to him. But just as well, with all the misinformation, moles, and dubious leaks, it could also be the case of someone leaking something to the media pretending to be close to Mbappe, but really having the motive of making it look like Mbappe is the one who wants Fede Valverde out of the club.

It is telling, though, that the immediate reaction from Mbappe after the training ground incident between Aurelien Tchouameni, his friend with the French national team, and Valverde, someone he does not get along with after the Xabi Alonso sacking, was to burst out laughing - and potentially make sure the media caught the snap shot with the windows rolled down.

Mbappe has reasons for wanting Valverde, a strong pillar of the old school of Real Madrid and Alvaro Arbeloa's backer, out of the squad. There are strong reasons for someone to want to leak something to make Mbappe look bad, but Mbappe has been involved with a lot of media leaks in the past for France and PSG. Real Madrid did not have this many leaks before he arrived. You do the math.
