The degree of dysfunction surrounding Real Madrid is far too much to bear, and it is incredible to think that just two years ago, a squad that was pretty similar to this one was viewed as the be all and all of European football with a La Liga and Champions League crown in tow under the friendly captain Carlo Ancelotti.
Now, Real Madrid have totally unraveled. Players are literally coming to blows behind closed doors, everyone hates everyone, some players are getting the parents to call the president about their kids not playing enough, a few players are acting like five year olds by not talking to the coach, and quite a few are even refusing to try on the pitch.
You have to feel bad for whoever manages Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso couldn't do it. Alvaro Arbeloa is the latest to fail, too. Real Madrid got mad that Alonso was too mean to the players. So now Arbeloa has been overly nice, and that is failing miserably in approach as well.
Alvaro Arbeloa's good cop strategy isn't working
According to a new report from Rodra of ESPN, via the Madrid Zone, Arbeloa has been trying so hard to appease the Real Madrid egos that he is barely even having them do any tactical work. Instead, he is making training sessions fun and letting the players basically do whatever they want in order to make sure the players are happy with positive vibes. Recalling Alonso's time as Real Madrid manager, the players were going against Alonso and complaining about doing the tactical work.
But here's the thing. Alvaro Arbeloa is trying to cut down on actual training to let the players do what they want, yet it's not helping anything. Real Madrid are losing more than they were under Alonso, and the players are actually fighting with each other even more. They are literally fighting like children, slapping each other around. Some players are trying to injure others in training. And on the pitch, they are lazy and clueless.
You can see exactly why Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to kick Arbeloa to the curb and bring on Jose Mourinho. Arbeloa is doing what was told of him by being more of a camp counselor than coach, but now the spoiled inmates have taken over the asylum.
Mourinho can bring serious tactical managing back to Real Madrid, and he won't care about the players having good vibes. They run on his vibes or they can get [redacted], and there are no two ways about it.
