Nico Paz was one of the five best players in world football last esason, and even though Federico Dimarco broke the single season record for assists in a Serie A season for champions Inter Milan, the Real Madrid academy product was the best player in the league last season, leading his team to the Champions League in a fairytale campaign.

Capable of doing it all in the middle of the park, Paz is as close to a Luka Modric regen as Real Madrid are going to get, and Madridistas are hoping to see the Argentinian international in the first team next season and dealing under Jose Mourinho, who seems to be excited to work with the highly technical and industrious Como midfielder.

Real Madrid do want to see him healthy and in one piece when he comes back, as Paz ended the season with a knee injury. His amazing performances have led him to a deserved call up to the roster of the defending World Cup champions, but Real Madrid fans were worried about an injury taking him out of action - or, worse yet, being pushed by Argentina, just as it happened 12 years ago in Brazil with Angel Di Maria.

Nico Paz has no issues now

However, according to Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni, the defending champions of the world and the world's biggest club both have nothing to worry about. Nico Paz is fine. In an injury update, Scaloni confirmed that both Paz and Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez are full gos now.

Scaloni stated, via Fabrizio Romano, “Nico Paz is available and there’s no concern regarding Julián Álvarez. They won’t have any problems. They are fine”.

The last thing Real Madrid needed was to worry about anything injury related to their young gem. Paz being fine is hugely reassuring, and it sounds like he will have no doubts from a health perspective for Argentina's first game of the World Cup.

Argentina will be in action to kick things off in North America on Tuesday night the following week when they take on Riyad Mahrez and Algeria in their Group J opener. Paz will also get to show his stuff on the world stage against Jordan and former Real Madrid star David Alaba, who will be leading Austria again at the World Cup this year despite his injury plagued 2025/26 season in the Spanish capital. This is a huge World Cup for Argentina and Paz, and Madrid fans will be relieved he is OK.
