Real Madrid fans know just how good Karim Benzema was in his prime. Whichever striker you can think of, there is a good chance the Frenchman was better than him.

An age-old debate has been about who the best striker in this generation is. Some say it is Benzema. Some name Robert Lewandowski, and some name Luis Suarez.

Benzema and Suarez were going off against each other in La Liga, when both Real Madrid and Barcelona had their superteams.

Many fans claim Suarez was the better player, even though Benzema has the longevity as well as the creativity of a number 10. Not to mention the unanimous Ballon d'Or that sets him apart from most players in this generation.

Luis Suarez's former legendary teammate chooses Karim Benzema over him

Well, one of Suarez's former teammates was asked the question about who is better between the Frenchman and the Uruguayan, and the former legend actually chose Benzema over someone he has shared a dressing room with.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard - who is also probably the biggest legend there is for the club - was asked the question in a video with Futcrunch, and he chose Benzema.

That just goes on to show how good the Frenchman really was. I mean, this guy was not only unplayable 1v1 in his prime, but he also was a pass-first guy who made everything click.

These sorts of players, and these sorts of profiles always go under the radar, but they are far too important for the team's successes.

Even a Benzema of this age is doing a lot in Saudi Pro League, winning the title and scoring goals, linking up with his teammates.

Suarez, on the other hand, is struggling a lot in United States, and this shows just how much better Benzema has aged than Suarez.

Banter aside, Suarez and Benzema are both exceptional. Two of the greatest ever forwards. Comparing them is fun, and it is fun to have these opinions, but these are two players who, in their prime, were unstoppable.
