Real Madrid have reportedly been given confidence that a deal for a Manchester United star who was previously on their radar is possible. The La Liga giants are set to for a busy summer transfer window after opting not to make any additions to the squad in January.
There were several players linked with Madrid during the winter window, including United captain Bruno Fernandes. Reports had claimed that the Portuguese playmaker had offered himself to the Spanish heavyweights, although Fabrizio Romano refuted this.
Fernandes doesn't look likely to join Los Blancos this summer but his teammate could. It's claimed that a special agreement allows the player to head to the Bernabeu.
Man Utd open door for Real Madrid to sign Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro was one of Europe's most in-demand young defenders back in the summer of 2024. He seemed to have his heart set on a move to Madrid but United blew Los Blancos out of the water with a €62 million offer.
The 20-year-old joined the Red Devils but has failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has started 12 of 22 league games this season.
According to Fichajes, Madrid has learned that Yoro has a "verbal agreement" with United to join the La Liga club within two seasons. If Florentino Perez's transfer chiefs are prepared to make a bid of around €70 million, the door could be opened for him to depart.
Yoro seems happy with life in Manchester but if he has concerns about his game time it could help Madrid if they wish to reignite their interest. He is still young and yet to reach his peak or show his best quality in England.
The French star broke onto the scene at LOSC Lille and soon had most of Europe's top clubs chasing his signature. While he had started to gain more of a focus this season, Michael Carrick's appointment as caretaker manager has seen him drop behind Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order.
Leny Yoro was described as the 'Kylian Mbappe of defenders'
Yoro's stock grew at Lille where he made 60 appearances during his teenage years and caught the eye with standout performances. Such was the hype about the French starlet that he was a priority for Perez.
Fabrizio Romano revealed just how highly Madrid admired Yoro at the time (via Madrid Zone):
"Real Madrid think Leny Yoro is the "Kylian Mbappé of defenders."

United probably won't want to lose their defender given his potential and the fact that he arrived for big money just two summers ago. But from the player's standpoint he might desire more game time especially with the depth of competition for places in France's squad.
