The French national team ripped through Morocco after a tenser Round of 16 clash with Paraguay, cruising to a 2-0 victory after brilliant second half goals from Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe and his PSG counterpart Ousmane Dembele.
But while Mbappe and Dembele stole the headlines with the goals, the elite player Real are recruiting to their attack next, Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, also had an incredible game that went under the radar.
Olise created great chances for his teammates and was at the heart of the moves with mind boggling dribbling skills and intelligence with how he positioned his body, taking Morocco's young midifelder Ayyoub Bouaddi through the spin cycle on multiple occasions.
Michael Olise is ready for Real Madrid
The French attacker led all players on the pitch with four dribbles completed and four fouls drawn. But Olise did so much more than that, too. It goes underrated how hard Olise works for the team on defense because he comes off so chill and nonchalant as a person, but he has that dog in him. And Morocco figured that out the hard way, as Olise was pressing and in the battles with two tackles and two interceptions, outproducing every French player defensively except for midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Thierry Henry referred to Michael Olise on the FOX broadcast as the Tom Brady or the point guard of France, and even fellow legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic agreed. And that praise is part of the huge statement Olise made to Real Madrid on the pitch.
Olise isn't just a Galactico who can score goals or even just grab the assists. What makes Olise so special is his all around game, either on the wings or even, as in this game for France, as a No. 10 winning possession, creating chances, and creating subtle space on the ball with his dribbling skills and control.
The Bayern Munich man is such a cultured, accomplished player, and while the jury is still out on whether or not Real Madrid should really be bidding more than 200 million euros to tempt Bayern Munich into selling, it is obvious that Olise is the caliber of player and character they should be going all in for.
Florentino Perez's obsession with Olise is not going to die any time soon, and by carving up Morocco with ease in the middle of the park as the all around attacking engine for France in this thoroughly professional 2-0 victory, Olise made another "come and get me" statement to the Spanish capital.
