Real Madrid superstar center midfielder Jude Bellingham is having a World Cup for the ages, and even before he replicated Diego Armando Maradona's incredible feat of two goals at the Azteca against hosts Mexico, he was still having an incredible Cup with dominant group stage performances in crucial wins over Croatia and a surprisingly decent Panama.
Bellingham has no weaknesses to his game, and true Real Madrid fans already knew of his prodigious talent and all around excellence. After all, he was the star of Madrid in just his first season out of Dortmund when Real Madrid last won titles, cleaning up La Liga and the Champions League in a quietly dominant 2023/24 campaign.
It is crazy to think, though, that some English footballing "experts" and even manager Thomas Tuchel were kicking around the idea of benching Bellingham for the World Cup, starting Morgan Rogers as a No. 10 instead.
Nobody can deny Jude Bellingham
But even the Aston Villa star knows how ridiculous that is, and he gushed about his midfield teammate, praising Jude for his decisiveness in big games and moments while stating that nobody should be surprised by this at all.
Rogers said of Jude in an interview with the Daily Mirror, as relayed by Madrid Xtra, "Jude Bellingham playing like a man possessed? Well, I told you that before. The squad and I aren't surprised by his performances or how he's been key in big moments. He didn't start the game well vs Mexico, but in the space of 5 mins, he put his fingerprints on the game and took over it. That's the type of player he is and we need in big moments. In tough times, when things aren't going your way, you need your best players to stand up and he's done that in every game so far."
Aside from the hogwash about not starting the game against Mexico well, everything else Morgan Rogers said about Jude Bellingham is 100 percent the truth, though the footballing world has already seen clearly just how big of a big game player the former Dortmund man is.
In his first season in Madrid, Bellingham was winning Clasicos with bangers for his club. And even in 2024 with England, Jude saved England's bacon with a last minute bicycle kick and was the best player on the pitch between both teams in the European Championship Final loss to Spain. Bellingham is the one who elevates the whole, and even his competitors in the squad cannot deny him.
