Real Madrid fans know how prolific Cristiano Ronaldo was in front of goal. Scoring 450 goals in just 438 games is more than impressive, especially for someone who never was a striker, at least not until the latter years of his career.
Real Madrid were blessed to have him around for nine years, and even now, he is scoring for Al Nassr and Portugal.
Ronaldo, even at 40 years old -- soon to be 41 -- has been scoring goals left, right and centre. He scored 35 goals for Al Nassr last season, and already has nine this season - including five for Portugal in just four games.
Cristiano Ronaldo now has the most goals in World Cup Qualifiers history
In fact, his goals against Hungary on Tuesday broke the record of the most World Cup Qualifier goals in football history, with 41.
Guatemala footballer Carlos Ruiz had 39, and Ronaldo broke his record after his brace in the competition.
Lionel Messi is not far off of Ronaldo's record at the moment, as he does have 36 goals to his name, although he did fail to score against Puerto Rico on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo can easily get a few more in the bag in the next international break, as Portugal will line up to face Ireland and Armenia on November 13 and November 16, respectively.
This also might be Ronaldo's best and last chance of winning the World Cup that he has dreamed of for so long. Portugal have the best squad they have had since Ronaldo came into the picture.
It has been great for them over the last few months, as they have scored so many goals, won many games, including the UEFA Nations League in June - beating Euro winners Spain in the final.
Obviously, the World Cup is going to be a different competition altogether. More teams, more pressure, as well as more chances for Ronaldo to cement his legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it.
And it is not like he is being carried by his teammates, either. I mean, Ronaldo has been pulling his weight at the national level. In the last year, especially after Euros, it seems like the player has found new life, scoring so many important goals, including the one against Spain.
And now, with this record, Ronaldo will be even more motivated to keep going at least until the World Cup, and give his all to win the much-coveted trophy before he hangs up his boots.
