As the club with the most Champions Leagues in history and the most fans on the planet, Real Madrid are in a unique position where they can sway almost anyone to join them, but even then, there are some players they just cannot get their hands on because they are too important to either Barcelona or one of their Champions League rivals.
Real Madrid fans want a shiny new midfielder who can dictate games and elevate the entire team, and they were zeroing in in on Joao Neves and Vitinha. And while they will love that Michael Olise of Bayern Munich is the Galactico Florentino Perez is talking about bringing on board, many were also dreaming of the PSG duo of Joao Neves and Vitinha.
Those dreams always looked to be unrealistic, and now they are confirmed to be impossible. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that PSG "are not even willing" to give any price tag for the Portuguese national team duo in midfield. The edict from the front office is clear; they want to keep all their biggest stars and go for the three peat to tie Real Madrid.
Real Madrid cannot poach from PSG
Given that PSG have won back to back Champions League titles, Vitinha and Joao Neves have no real reason to leave, so the pull of Real Madrid does not matter. And Vitinha has not made it all that subtle that he does not care for Kylian Mbappe, so there is another issue. Real Madrid have not won anything since Mbappe's arrival, and so there is no reason for these guys to put pressure on PSG for a sale, even if their agents happen to be Jorge Mendes (who is also the agent of incoming Real Madrid coach and Portuguese international Jose Mourinho).
Real Madrid are going to have to focus on ther center midfield targets like Enzo Fernandez, Rodri, Alexis Mac Allister, and the others. They come from top clubs but these are clubs more willing to do business with Real Madrid than PSG.
And while the air between Florentino Perez and PSG leader Nasser Al-Khelaifi has cleared in the years since the heat of their Champions League and Kylian Mbappe battles, the reality is that PSG think they are the new Real Madrid and that Real Madrid are now where they were years ago. It is up to Real Madrid to find their own stars and get back to that level without poaching from Paris.
