Endrick has been having a whale of a time at Lyon on loan from Real Madrid, and perhaps Xabi Alonso discarding the Brazilian early in favor of the far less impressive Franco Mastantuono was a blessing in disguise for the forward. He is getting the playing time and importance at Lyon that he never would have received at Real Madrid, even considering Alvaro Arbeloa's openness to youth and the club's own craving for that left footed scoring presence.
Beyond the goals, Endrick has brought chance creation and excitement in the one on ones, and he has been Lyon's best player since Day One from the winter. And though manager Paulo Fonseca was initially frustrated with Endrick at one point, even going so far as to bench him and call him out publicly, the quality of the Brazilian won him over.
Now, via Madrid Xtra, Fonseca is the one singing his praises, and he emphatically stated what all Real Madrid fans who have followed the young man closely in Ligue 1 are thinking: Endrick has proven he is more than ready for the big time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Endrick is ready for Real Madrid
Fonseca said of the 19 year old striker, “It will be difficult for Endrick to stay here. Real Madrid will undoubtedly want him back. That’s normal. After what he’s shown here, he’s proven he has the quality to be a Real Madrid player.”
With 5 goals and 7 assists in about 15 league appearances this season, Endrick has shown end product and all around ability, in addition to the excitement and sparks Real Madrid fans already saw in La Liga. But even in bigger responsibility in the Copa del Rey, Endrick was showing that he had that goal scoring touch and end product.
Although Real Madrid's striker position is currently occupied by Kylian Mbappe - and Endrick is more of a natural fit at striker than the right wing even as a left footer - that may very well change if the Palmeiras grad balls out hard enough under new manager Jose Mourinho, who clearly can't be impressed with Kylian Mbappe's attitude.
Even beyond Mbappe's attitude, the Frenchman has not been efficient in front of goal. Most of his goals are penalties, he is missing out on easy chances due to poor positioning, his creation numbers are dwarfed by Endrick's (even with worse forwards around him than Mbappe's in Madrid), and his efficency of goals to shots are really poor. Endrick is ready to push Mbappe.
