As a result, the Englishman will stay at Crystal Palace this season before leaving as a free agent next summer, and this time there will be more clubs than just Liverpool chasing him.
Real Madrid have made themselves known as somewhat masters of the free transfer in recent years after signing the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all as free agents. And now, with everything that happened with the Guehi to Liverpool deal, and given he will be a free agent, he could potentially end up a a club other than the reigning Premier League champions.
Real will have to compete with the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and still Liverpool if they hope to steal him as a free transfer. Given the clubs recent record with free agents, the Englishman could very well end up at the Bernabeu next summer.
