Jose Mourinho is not at all happy that Real Madrid are unable to bring in the top class defensive midfielder he wanted to complete the team, and Madridistas are both nervous to see how the midfield will play without Rodri and how Mou reacts to not having the ideal unit. Plus, it does not help that Rodri is bound for arch rivals Barcelona, who already took the La Liga title off the Merengues in back to back seasons.
With Rodri off the table and Eduardo Camavinga still not going anywhere, let's take a look at the ideal starting midfield trio for Mourinho to choose on most La Liga Matchdays from the mix of quality players he does have available.

Aurelien Tchouameni is the only No. 6 Real Madrid have if Thiago Pitarch goes to Fulham to join forces with his favorite coach Alvaro Arbeloa, but, even then, the Frenchman should not start. He has been poor these last couple of seasons yet somehow gets a pass for some fans despite being nearly as bad as Camavinga.
The best option is an active, box to box, ball carrying double pivot between Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham. These two world class midfielders can progress play, score goals, create chances, and defend at an elite level while covering a lot of ground. Not having an anchor will put more pressure on the center backs to defend on an island, but the best players need to play. These guys are the best Real Madrid have.
AM Arda Guler
Using the double pivot of Bellingham and Valverde instead of having them playing as wide midfielders for an anchoring Aurelien Tchouameni also has the added benefit of getting Arda Guler to play as a No. 10 and be that second coming of Mesut Ozil that many are predicting for the talented young Turkish international under Jose Mourinho's tutelage.
Guler is the best midfield playmaker in the team and one of the best chance creators in European football. Kylian Mbappe absolutely loves playing with him, and Mourinho clearly has big plans for the midfield talent. The best way to get him on the pitch is to play him as a 10 and have two midfielders behind him putting in the shift work so that he can sit in that hole behind Mbappe and spray passes and lead counters as the point guard in the final third.
