Originally, Angel Di Maria was signed by Real Madrid from Benfica in 2010. It was a transfer fee set at exactly €33m, paid by Real Madrid. The Argentine then spent four years donning the Real Madrid jersey, becoming one of the best players at the club during this time.

In 2014, Real Madrid sold Angel Di Maria to Manchester United. It was a transfer which was seen as transformative at the time but it didn't work out for Di Maria in England. Still, Real Madrid were paid €75m, securing a tidy €42m in profit for the club.
