Karim Benzema made the switch to Real Madrid in the 2009 summer transfer window. He was one of a few transfers during that transfer window who went onto become stars in the Spanish capital. It is fair to say, though, that he exceeded expectations the most of any Real Madrid player during this period.
Signed for just €35m from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, Karim Benzema went onto become a Real Madrid club legend, amassing an incredible 238 Liga goals across a 14 year period. Already an established professional when he joined from Ligue 1, Karim Benzema elevated many levels after signing for Real Madrid and he is now recognised as one of the greatest strikers in history.
He scored in the 2018 Champions League final, winning his third Champions League medal in a row. He left Real Madrid in 2023, having won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles. He also won the Ballon d'Or in 2022, being the best striker in the world at that time.
