Jose Mourinho took a punt by signing 18-year-old Raphael Varane from Lens in the 2011 summer transfer window but it proved to be a successful punt. In one of the most underrated transfers of all-time, Real Madrid secured a club legend for just €10m.
Raphael Varane spent a whole decade in the Spanish capital before joining Manchester United. For Madrid, he made 236 Liga appearances, winning the title thrice. He also picked up an impressive four Champions League trophies, including three of those in consecutive seasons.
