1. Martin Odegaard
When he signed for Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard had plenty of media spotlight on him. The Norwegian captain was one of the best wonderkids in world football at the time and he was tipped for a big future.
He spent two years developing with Real Madrid Castilla but his time with the first team was underwhelming to say the least. Odegaard made just 8 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid and went on four loan spells. He fell in love with one of those loaned clubs, Arsenal, who signed him permanently in 2021.
Odegaard has turned into one of the best midfielders in the world since he signed for Arsenal. Under head coach Mikel Arteta, he is world-class and living up to the potential he failed to reach in Madrid. As the Arsenal captain, he won't look back on leaving Real Madrid in 2021.
