4. Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata left Real Madrid twice after Los Blancos activated a buy-back clause in 2016. After this clause was triggered, he only spent one season in the Spanish capital before signing for Chelsea. It was at Chelsea where Morata had one of his worst spells as a player.

Signed with plenty of hope and promise, it didn't take long for the Stamford Bridge crowd to turn on him. A plethora of missed chances and a drop in attitude made him regret leaving Real Madrid for the second time. Soon, he fell down the pecking order, and looked like he'd reached a dead-end in his career.

Now, Morata represents Real Madrid's rivals, Atletico Madrid. However, he has not made a lasting impact at the other Madrid side, either. Therefore, Morata is a fine example of a player who struggled after leaving Real Madrid.
