Real Madrid are a club in need of a centre-back right now. In the first match of the La Liga season, Eder Militao tore his ACL. Now, the same has happened to David Alaba in the game against Villarreal and he is set to remain out for the rest of the campaign. That leaves the club with just two options in the position, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho. We have seen Aurelien Tchouameni fill there in the past as well.

That is not the ideal situation to be in though. Real Madrid fans will be hoping that another centre-back is signed in January although there have been conflicting rumours regarding that.

Another club in need of a centre-back are Manchester United, with the future of Raphael Varane up in the air as he has lost his regular spot in the starting XI in recent times. And it appears that the Premier League club have a Real Madrid target on their radar.

As reported by AS, Goncalo Inacio is a candidate highly studied by Real Madrid. Manchester United has positioned itself as the great competition for the signing, but the player has conveyed his desire to give priority to Los Blancos.

There is believed to be a €60 million release clause in Inacio's current deal at Sporting Lisbon. But the club are rumoured to be flexible when it comes to the payment terms. The 22-year-old Portuguese international could move for a €45 million initial transfer fee plus €15 million in variables.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid end up making a move for Inacio or not. They have also been linked with his Portugal international teammate, Antonio Silva, who is believed to have a €100 million release clause at Benfica.

There is heavy competition for both of their signatures though. So, signing them will not be straightforward.
