Real Madrid are arguably the best team in all of Europe right now. Despite their lack of depth and injury problems, Carlo Ancelotti's side have continued to deliver results. The latest of them was a 4-1 win over FC Barcelona in the final to win the Spanish Super Cup. Naturally, the players and the coaching staff deserve immense credit for the job that they have done under difficult circumstances.
The future of quite a few of their players is not certain though. One of them is club captain, Nacho Fernandez.
Fernandez signed a one-year extension to remain at the club this season. Will he extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu once again or try a different experience this time around around?
AC Milan seem to be one of the clubs interested in his signature. As reported by Fichajes (via Sempre Milan), Stefano Pioli has requested Nacho's arrival to add experience and quality to his backline.
AC Milan lining up move for Real Madrid hero next summer
Nacho is set to turn 34 years of age soon. Thus, next summer might be his last opportunity to try a difference experience at a club like AC Milan or of similar magnitude.
Will he want to do that? Or will he want to continue at Santiago Bernabeu? Nacho is a true one-club player, something that is extremely rare in modern football. He came through the ranks at Real Madrid and has spent his entire career there, never even going out on loan for experience early on.
When everybody is fit and available, Nacho is the fourth-choice centre-back at Real Madrid. With Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba out with long-term injuries, he has played a decent bit this season, but that won't always be the case. Will the Spaniard want to spent the twilight years of his career sitting on the bench?
