Real Madrid's performances and results have been impressive this season, especially considering the circumstances. But injuries refuse to leave Carlo Ancelotti's side alone. After Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, David Alaba became the latest player to tear his ACL and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

That leaves Antonio Rudiger and Nacho as the only two recognised options at centre-back. Many fans would have been hoping that Castilla players get a chance in this situation. Unfortunately, there is some bad news in that regard already.

As reported by MARCA, Marvel will be out for about three months. He suffered a muscular injury during a friendly in Valdebebas last week.

When Militao was injured earlier in the season, there was talk in the Spanish media of Real Madrid viewing Marvel as their fourth option at centre-back. That has not led to his debut yet though, with the 20-year-old already having spent a lot of time out on the sidelines. And it looks like his fitness issues are set to continue.

There have been conflicting rumours about Real Madrid's transfer plans for the summer. Some have suggested that the club want to sign another centre-back next month. Other speculate that they don't and will rely on Aurelien Tchouameni and Dani Carvajal as possible options there.

The club have been linked with high-profile names like Antonio Silva of Benfica and Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon lately. It is hard to see them making a move of that magnitude in the middle of the season though, considering their recent record when it comes to January transfer windows.

One thing is for sure. Ancelotti's job has been made a lot harder and the Italian manager does not get enough credit for how well his team are doing under these difficult circumstances. Let's hope it continues.
