Antonio Rudiger has specifically answered which defender he would like Real Madrid to sign. In fact, he would ideally like to partner a current Arsenal superstar.

Despite not losing in the league this season, Real Madrid have left a lot to be desired in their opening nine games. They sit second in La Liga, having dropped points on three different occasions.

However, Real Madrid do boast one of the best defences in La Liga. They have conceded just six goals all season so far. This is a tally which is only bettered by Atletico Madrid (5).

Largely to thank for this impressive record is Antonio Rudiger. The German international has started the season in the same manner he ended the last one, remaining solid at the back.

Next season, Antonio Rudiger has made his demands known. When asked which defender he would like to partner him in the Real Madrid defence, he said William Saliba of Arsenal.

In his own words, Antonio Rudiger said: "I say William Saliba. I'm very happy with my centre-back partner Militao because he also came from a big injury and he's getting back to his best, but there's so many games, so we would rotate. To have Saliba... It would be great."

No Real Madrid fan would turn up their nose at the prospect of signing William Saliba. He is definitely the best defender in the Premier League currently, potentially even the world.

The Frenchman has completely revolutionised Arsenal's defence and made them a force to be reckoned with again. Arsenal are known for boasting the best defence in England, with William Saliba helping to achieve that feat over the last few seasons.

Real Madrid have suffered their fair share of injury concerns. Considering David Alaba is out injured long-term and so too is Dani Carvajal, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Real Madrid active in the next few transfer windows.

Just like Rudiger touched upon, Eder Militao is still recovering from a lengthy injury setback himself. So, the Brazilian's match fitness is still tentative.

William Saliba was missing through injury for a large chunk of the 2022/23 season. His absence was felt, and it could be a big reason why they bottled the title race. Since then, the Frenchman has continued to be a mainstay in the Arsenal starting lineup.
