Real Madrid need to make signings in multiple positions across the pitch, as the squad are lacking in depth at the moment. Right-back certainly falls under that category. Dani Carvajal is set to turn 32 years of age. He is a club legend without a doubt and has played an important part in so many of their triumphs over the past decade or so. Sooner or later, they will need to find a successor though.

A number of right-backs have been linked with Real Madrid in recent years. Jeremie Frimpong is someone whose name has done the rounds of the rumour mill frequently.

Frimpong is one of the most in-form full-backs in all of Europe. The Dutchman has taken his game to the next level under the management of Xabi Alonso. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided 10 assists in 22 appearances.

Real Madrid are not the only club after the signature of the Bayer Leverkusen standout though. As reported by Fichajes, Arsenal are determined to secure the signing of the right-back. They reportedly view the £34 million clause in Frimpong's new contract as an opportunity they cannot pass up and plan to activate it this summer.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid try to sign Frimpong in the future or not. They have been linked with plenty of other right-backs in recent times like Reece James of Chelsea, Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur, Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool and a few others.

They were heavily linked with Frimpong in the summer as well, along with plenty of other clubs. It was actually a major surprise that the Dutchman remained at Bayer Leverkusen.

Things have worked out in the end though. Bayer Leverkusen sit atop the Bundesliga table against all expectations and Frimpong's stock has only risen since then.
