Real Madrid fans will now turn their attention to international competition. Players from different continents will represent their respective nations in the upcoming tournaments but most notably, there are 13 Real Madrid players at EURO 2024.

Arsenal make surprising transfer offer for Real Madrid goalkeeper

One of those players is Andriy Lunin. Understandably, the Ukraine international was called up to the squad for their upcoming European campaign. Ukraine is in one of their strongest positions throughout history, with plenty of promising players coming through the ranks including Lunin, Mykhailo Mudryk and Oleksandr Zinchenko at the forefront.

However, has Andiry Lunin played his final game for Real Madrid? Well, that is still up in the air.

The backup goalkeeper stepped up to the mark during the lengthy Thibaut Courtois absence in the middle of the 2023/24 campaign, proving that he is too good to rot on the bench. However, from Real Madrid's perspective, they can not offer Lunin game-time as Courtois is clearly the preferred option.

Andriy Lunin might be the preferred option for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. According to a report from COPE, there are certain offers which have swayed Lunin from his current backup role at Real Madrid and one of those is an offer received from Arsenal. While the Gunners are yet to submit an offer to Real Madrid, they have offered the player a tempting proposition.

At this point in time, Andriy Lunin is contemplating joining Arsenal. The deal is still in its earliest stages because as mentioned, Arsenal are yet to enter negotiation with Real Madrid, only the player at this point. Nevertheless, the interest is there from the North London outfit, so it is worth monitoring from Los Blancos' position.

At face value, it is hard to imagine Andriy Lunin making more of a name for himself at Arsenal than he has at Real Madrid. Mikel Arteta has shown a clear preference for David Raya, who won the Premier League Golden Glove award last season while on loan, being one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Raya's performances were even enough to convince Arteta to drop former hero Aaron Ramsdale.

That said, it does show that Mikel Arteta does not show much loyalties to his goalkeepers. After all, before Ramsdale was displaced, it was Bernd Leno was displaced between the sticks. Therefore, Raya may not be as safe as the number one option as it seems.
