Real Madrid's need for another centre-back is no secret. Both David Alaba and Eder Militao tore their ACLs this season and are out for the foreseeable future. That has left Carlo Ancelotti with just two options there, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho. Aurelien Tchouameni and Dani Carvajal can fill in if the situation calls for it, like the Frenchman did against Mallorca and kept a clean sheet too.

Despite that, Real Madrid appear to be happy with the options they have and are ready to continue with them. So, do not expect a new centre-back to be signed this month.

Raphael Varane is someone who had been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid this January. But now, the club legend has unexpectedly been linked with FC Barcelona.

As reported by TEAMtalk, reports in Spain claim that Manchester United have offered Varane to Barcelona. That too for just a €20 million transfer fee.

Varane spent a decade at Real Madrid. So, it is almost unthinkable that he would ever end up at Barcelona despite the recent speculation.

Even if the move was on the table, one would hope for and expect Varane to turn it down. Let's see how things play out.

Varane seemed to be completely out of Erik ten Hag's plans earlier on in the campaign. But as Manchester United have continued to struggle for results, he seems to have returned to the first-team fold and has been given quite a few starts in recent weeks.

So, it is very possible that Varane might stay on at Manchester United beyond the January transfer window. Time shall tell. Real Madrid fans will be hoping though that they do not ever have to see the French World Cup winner in a Barcelona jersey.
