Real Madrid need to strengthen in several positions. One of them is left-back. Fran Garcia was brought in from Rayo Vallecano but he has not convinced with his displays. Ferland Mendy has done well in recent weeks after recovering from injury but the expectation is that Los Blancos will try to transfer him next summer.
Real Madrid are expected to try and sign a long-term solution at left-back next summer. Alphonso Davies is someone who has been heavily linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks.
It feels like Davies has been around forever but it was just last month that he turned 23 years of age. The Canadian international would be the perfect left-back for Real Madrid in many ways. He is fantastic going forward, one of the fastest players on the planet and has superstar potential.
There seems to be some good news in that regard as well. Davies' current deal with Bayern Munich runs out in the summer of 2025 and an extension does not look close at the moment.
Bayern Munich hand Alphonso Davies transfer boost to Real Madrid
As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, negotiations between Bayern Munich and Davies about a new contract beyond 2025 continue to be complicated. If it becomes apparent that the Canadian international doesn't meet the conditions set by the club, he becomes a candidate for a transfer in the summer. Real Madrid want to sign him.
Davies is one of the best young left-backs in world football. And he has all the attributes to get even better over time. We have seen how much Jude Bellingham has improved since arriving at Real Madrid in the summer.
That being said, other clubs are believed to hold an interest in Davies as well. Manchester City and Chelsea are rumoured to be amongst them.
