Brahim Diaz has enjoyed quite the rise in recent seasons. He came up through the youth ranks at Malaga before being signed by Manchester City. His time in England was not long though as Real Madrid would end up signing him in 2019. Chances were hard to come by at Santiago Bernabeu though and he ended up spending three seasons on loan at AC Milan.

Those three seasons playing for AC Milan are paying dividends for Brahim though. In Italy, he played a ton of first-team football and developed his game to the point where he is now competing for minutes at Real Madrid.

Brahim returned to Real Madrid last summer. Initially, he was not getting minutes in Carlo Ancelotti's side.

However, whenever given a chance, Brahim would take it with both hands. And soon enough, he was featuring on a consistent basis for Real Madrid. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 44 appearances and scored 12 goals as well as provided 9 assists last season.

It is also worth remembering that a good portion of those appearances from Brahim came as a substitute. So, his effectiveness was excellent and hopefully, he will continue on this path. Also, he could be set to make some Real Madrid history soon.

As reported by AS, Brahim is the favourite for the African Footballer of the Year. It is an award that has never been won by a Real Madrid player.

Real Madrid players, past and present, have won so many awards through the course of their careers. But the African Footballer of the Year has eluded them so far. Brahim could be the first to win it. He plays for Morocco at the international level, even though he made his full debut for Spain in 2021.
