Real Madrid have found a lot of success in recent years by signing some of the best South American youngsters and then developing them into first-team players at Santiago Bernabeu. The likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde are now regular starters for the club while Endrick is expected to follow that same path when he arrives in the summer. Naturally, one expects Los Blancos to follow the same transfer strategy moving forward as well.

The problem for Real Madrid is that clubs like Chelsea are now trying to emulate a similar approach. They have signed players like Estevao, Andrey Santos, Kendry Paez and several others. And next on their radar is a highly-rated Argentine centre-back who has also been linked with Los Blancos.

As reported by BBC, Chelsea remain in advanced talks to sign Aaron Anselmino. The deal to sign the centre-back from Boca Juniors is largely believed to be either close or done depending on who you speak to on the Argentine side.

Anselmino is one of the rising stars in Argentine football. He has played about 10 games for Boca Juniors so far and it is only injuries which have prevented him from getting on the pitch more often in recent times.

Anselmino is someone who had been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as well. But now, it looks like he is headed to Chelsea.

Chelsea might have struggled to deliver results on the pitch since their change in ownership but that has not stopped them from signing some of the best youngsters in world football. One has to assume that they are presenting an exceptional long-term project to potential signings.

Of course, there are other centre-backs Real Madrid have been linked with in recent times. Leny Yoro is one of them, who appears to be much more first-team ready and has already played a lot at the senior level, even though he is about half-a-year younger than Anselmino.
