Fabrizio Romano confirms another Real Madrid injury blow
Injury problems just never seem to leave Real Madrid alone. In fact, it is somewhat of a miracle how successful Carlo Ancelotti's team have been over the past three-plus seasons despite the constant fitness issues that they are faced with and to key players as well. The start of the 24/25 campaign has been no different.
Real Madrid already have important players out on the sidelines. And another name has now been added to that list.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Ferland Mendy has suffered an injury to his right tibia. He has been excluded from the French national team squad list due to the issue and Lucas Digne replaces him.
Mendy is one of Ancelotti's favourites. The Frenchman has had plenty of injury problems over the years but when he is fit and available, he certainly makes the team better and much more difficult to defeat.

For a long time, it had looked like Mendy was set to leave Real Madrid this summer. Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea were rumoured to be interested in him as well.
But Mendy would go on an impressive run of form last season and that seems to have secured his future at Real Madrid for the time being. Of course, that could change pretty quickly depending on how the club's quest to sign Alphonso Davies turns out.
Davies is believed to be their number one transfer target to be the long-term left-back. Real Madrid might be able to bring him in on a free transfer as well, just like they did with Bayern Munich a few years back.
Davies is currently in the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich. And there does not seem to be any sign that he is interested in signing an extension with the Bavarian club.
