Since we are now in the final few days of the summer transfer window, Fabrizio Romano has provided a pivotal update on the Real Madrid transfer target, Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, it's seen as a "non-update", since he confirmed no moves have been made by Real Madrid.

The summer transfer window closes on Friday at 11pm BST. So, there is only three days remaining in the summer transfer window for Carlo Ancelotti to make any deals. So far, Real Madrid have signed Endrick and Kylian Mbappe, with both players making an impact on the starting eleven.

So, will there even be time for Real Madrid to bring in Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool before the end of the 2024 summer transfer window?

Fabrizio Romano drops another update on Real Madrid transfer target

According to Fabrizio Romano, it does not appear to be an immediate aim for Real Madrid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, at least not this summer. While he did confirm Real Madrid's interest, he affirm that no concrete moves had been made by Real Madrid at this stage.

Furthermore, Romano claimed that Liverpool are working hard to tie Trent Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract. Another area for concern for Real Madrid is that they are not the only team interested in signing Trent, as things stand.

In his own words, Fabrizio Romano said: "I don’t think there’s one club in the world not rating TAA… obviously all clubs like him, but Liverpool do too and Liverpool deserve respect in this story."

Romano continued: “[Liverpool] will have their chance to keep Trent at the club and extend his contract, let’s see how talks will go. Real Madrid appreciation is something I mentioned in March, but at the moment there’s nothing else fresh or concrete to add. Nothing has changed, I can guarantee that.”

So, as things stand, Real Madrid are just interested. Considering there is only a few days remaining in the summer transfer window, it is unlikely they will sign him in this window. Therefore, the plan for Real Madrid is seemingly to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free deal when his Liverpool contract expires in 2025.

Understandably, though, Liverpool are working against that. They would like to tie Trent down to a new deal. Even if this only means they secure a transfer fee for his departure, it is worthwhile for new manager Arne Slot to continue talks.

Do you think Trent Alexander-Arnold will ultimately join Real Madrid?
