Important Real Madrid player suspended for Atletico game

Real Madrid have only lost to one team this season, and twice at that. Their cross-town rivals, Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone's team have proven to be the Kryptonite to Carlo Ancelotti's unstoppable side on two occasions. Los Blancos did come out on top in the Supercopa de Espana, but even that was a very close contest.

So, Real Madrid will need to be at the top of their game when they welcome Atletico Madrid to Santiago Bernabeu this weekend. Ancelotti's side sit atop the La Liga table but it is only a slim two-point lead over Girona. One matchday and things can change.

Atletico Madrid are a healthy 10 points behind Real Madrid in third. But there is always more than just points at stake when the two teams from the Spanish capital meet in the Derby.

Unfortunately for Real Madrid, they will be without one of their most important players when they take on Simeone's side this weekend. It is none other than Aurelien Tchouameni, who will be serving a suspension, having picked up his 5th yellow card of the season against Getafe.

As tweeted by El Chiringuito TV, Tchouameni will not play against Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid's appeal after receiving the fifth yellow card has been rejected.

Tchouameni has been a regular starter for Real Madrid this season and one of their key players in the middle of the park. When needed, the Frenchman has even filled in at centre-back and done a great job at that.

So, Real Madrid are certainly going to miss his presence in the game against Atletico Madrid. Hopefully, they are able to deal with it and come out of the game with a positive result. If there is one thing we know about this team for sure, it is that they know how to find ways to win games.
