Kylian Mbappe's PSG twist amid Real Madrid links
The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga has been going on and on for years now, without any conclusion. It seems like the end is in sight though. The Frenchman's current deal with Paris Saint-Germain runs out in the summer and at the moment, an extension does not seem close. Could the World Cup winner end up at Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer?
There have been rumours that Real Madrid will make an offer to Mbappe in January when he is free to discuss terms with other clubs as his deal with PSG will be entering its final six months. But there have been suggestions that Los Blancos want the Frenchman to make his decision quickly or they might move their sights elsewhere.
On the other hand, it looks like nothing is ruled out yet when it comes to the French superstar. As reported by El Chiringuito (via French Football Weekly), Mbappe will listen to Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s proposal regarding a new contract.
Thus, the possibility of Mbappe extending his stay with PSG has not been completely ruled out either. And if there is one thing sure about this long-running saga, it is that nothing is for sure.
Mbappe's PSG twist amid Real Madrid links
One cannot deny the fact that Mbappe's stock has fallen slightly in recent years. He was considered the next best player in the game by almost everyone a few years back.
But it feels like his club career has stagnated a bit. PSG have not been challenging for the Champions League and Ligue 1 is not considered amongst the toughest leagues in Europe.
On the other hand, players like Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior have enjoyed meteoric rises in the game, and are viewed as viable contenders for the Ballon d'Or in the future. So, Mbappe needs a refresh. A move to Real Madrid could be that.
