Real Madrid recently beat Sevilla in La Liga, maintaining their place at the top of the table. Although they had to leave it until late when super-sub Luka Modric scored a wonderful goal, Los Blancos thought they had scored earlier in the match, when Lucas Vazquez found the back of the net before the goal was ruled out.

Lucas Vazquez had a tremendous game as he played the entire match. The full-back has been an important player this season and despite not being in the starting eleven consistently, he has racked up 20 league appearances under Carlo Ancelotti this season, even scoring a goal.

Despite not being in direct competition with the potential new summer signing, Lucas Vazquez has been questioned about what Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer might mean for him.

Quoted by PSG Talk, Lucas Vazquez said: “We hear a lot about what is happening in the press, Obviously, we are not isolated and will see what happens. At the moment, he is a PSG player.”

A respectful comment from Vazquez, which Real Madrid fans can read between the lines of and PSG fans can respect. It's important to remember that players are humans too. They consume the media which fans also consume, whether voluntarily or not. Therefore, the players would have been some of the first to know about Real Madrid's pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

As things stand, it looks like the ball is in Mbappe's court. The contract has been produced and we are awaiting official confirmation of the contract being signed. While there are minor details to be addressed according to Fabrizio Romano, it looks like Real Madrid are leading the race and are far advanced in comparison to their competitors.
