Real Madrid have earned a lot of plaudits for identifying and signing some of the best young talents from around Europe, and then developing them into first-team superstars at Santiago Bernabeu. The likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and several others fall under that category. But at the same time, one cannot overlook their struggles when it comes to promoting their own youth standouts to the senior level.

Several have left Real Madrid over the years in search of playing time and impressed elsewhere. Miguel Gutierrez is someone who is having a fantastic season right now as Girona make an unexpected title challenge.

That has seen him being linked with several top clubs. As reported by SPORT, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are interested in Gutierrez.

There is believed to be a €35 million release clause in Gutierrez's contract. Real Madrid also have a 50% sell-on clause. And it is worth pointing out that Girona are part of the City Football Group.

Real Madrid themselves could do with a player of Gutierrez's quality. They were linked with him not too long ago but ended up bringing back Fran Garcia in the summer.

Garcia has not been able to show the level of consistency required to earn himself a spot in Real Madrid's starting XI. On the other hand, Gutierrez is having a standout campaign.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Gutierrez. It would be a surprise if he is at Girona come next season.

On the other hand, Real Madrid are expected to sign a left-back soon too. But Alphonso Davies has emerged as the most likely option in the regard. The Canadian international's contract with Bayern Munich runs out in the summer of 2025.
